‘He’s a 10 out of 10’ – Nkota makes transfer wish for Mofokeng

Bafana Bafana winger Mohau Nkota has showered praise on Relebohile Mofokeng who continues to impress at Orlando Pirates.

Nkota and Mofokeng know each other so well from their time at Orlando Pirates last season when they tore defences apart to earn the nickname ‘Cocomelon.’

That was before Nkota secured a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Ettifaq but Mofokeng has stayed grounded and is on course for his best ever season, having netted 11 goals and added eight assists so far, to ignite talk of PSL Player of the Year award while he continues being linked to clubs abroad.

“He’s a 10 out of 10. He’s a quality player. He’s very good. He’s very intelligent. He knows how to read the game,” Nkota said of Mofokeng as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“A lot of people talk that we are both young stars, the top young stars in South Africa. And promising, because that’s what we love to do, to impress and make people talk about us.”

Nkota says he is still in constant communication with Mofokeng and is hoping that both of them can light it up for Bafana Bafana at the 2026 World Cup and lead Hugo Broos’ side to success.

“We always talk somehow when he’s not busy, when I’m not busy. But he’s a very quality player,” he added.

“Going to the World Cup, we want to make it a dream. We want people to remember what we left there. We want to make sure that we play our best,” he insisted, while staying positive that their World Cup performance can see them land even bigger opportunities.

“We hope that something will come up,” said Nkota, whose agent said last month that there are several inquiries about him with Portuguese giants Benfica believed to be one of the interested clubs.

Meanwhile, Mofokeng has also been linked to a number of clubs abroad in the last two years but a deal is yet to materialise. However, in his current form, suitors will be lining up at the end of the season and he could even increase the number of interested clubs with a strong World Cup performance.
