Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has explained why new signings Ethan Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga are yet to feature for the club.
Attacking midfielder Chislett and left-back Shinga were among the first players signed by Chiefs when the transfer window opened but seven games into the new PSL season, neither of them is yet to pay.
What is more, Khanyisa Mayo, who was signed early this month, made his debut and scored but the two, who were part of the club’s pre-season tour of the Netherlands in July are still nowhere to be seen.
That has raised eyebrows among Chiefs fans, who are fearing that the duo could turn out to be the latest in a long list of poor signings for the club, but Ben Youssef says there is no cause for alarm.

“With Shinga and Ethan, both of them are with us, they are training and we as coaches, we know when will be the right moments to introduce them in the team, they keep working with good attitude in training, very good performances in training,” he told the media as quoted by iDiski Times. “We are waiting until the best moment to introduce them in the team.”
The Chiefs coach was speaking after watching his team drop two points from a winning position following a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants on Wednesday, when Mayo’s first half strike was cancelled out by Jaisen Clifford 15 minutes from time, although the Glamour Boys wasted a glorious opportunity to win as Gaston Sirino missed a penalty in the early minutes of the second half.
“The players performed well, the result was not good. I think what we did over 90 minutes, we deserved to win the game, we deserved three points, so congratulations to Marumo Gallants for the performances they showed this season, they have done well,” added Ben Youssef.

“You saw the results against the other teams, what they did, they always create difficulties for other teams – but I think we prepared very well for the game, the plan of the game was clear for the players and football is like that.
“When you score the first goal and you get an opportunity after to score the second goal and to make it easier – we were unlucky to score, not like them, one opportunity they got and the scored. Now the game is finished, it’s 1-1 and now we have in a few days another game.”
It was the third straight game in which Chiefs have failed to win following on from last week’s 3-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United and the 1-0 reverse away to Kabuscorp of Angola in the CAF Confederation Cup.
That has seen the early season optimism begin to disappear among Chiefs fans who had started believing after four wins and a draw in their opening five league matches.
