Reports from the Italian media indicate that Ademola Lookman rejoined his Atalanta teammates for training on Wednesday.
The Nigeria international was linked with potential moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal earlier in August, with reports suggesting that his representatives had reached an agreement with the French giants.
Consequently, Lookman missed several of Atalanta’s training sessions and was unavailable for the club’s first two Serie A matches due to these ongoing transfer discussions.
However, recent reports from France indicate that PSG are no longer inclined to pursue a new centre forward, despite Gonçalo Ramos’ recent injury.
With PSG's interest in Lookman waning and Arsenal reportedly unwilling to meet Atalanta’s asking price, there is growing speculation that Lookman may remain with Atalanta for the remainder of the season.
Ademola Lookman to begin 2024/25 Serie A campaign against the reigning champions
Reigning champions Inter Milan will host the Europa League winners, Atalanta, at the San Siro on Friday, marking a significant moment as Ademola Lookman could make his first Serie A appearance for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this season.
As Atalanta prepare for this high-profile clash, the return of their reigning Player of the Season will no doubt come as a major boost. The club have had a mixed start to the new campaign, starting off with a 4-0 victory over Lecce in their opener only to suffer a 2-1 defeat to Torino last weekend.
The 26-year-old, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in a €9.3 million transfer in 2022, has netted 32 goals in 79 appearances for La Dea, including a remarkable hat-trick in the 2023-24 Europa League Final against Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Everton player’s contract with Atalanta extends until June 2026, and he is currently valued at €60 million by the club.
