Fulham head coach Marco Silva has shared the latest update on the fitness of Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi ahead of their clash against Bournemouth on Saturday, Afrik-Foot reports.
The Nigerian playmaker has been an important player for the club since arriving in 2023 and has already made 31 appearances across all competitions this season, including 27 in the Premier League.
Until the last few weeks, the only matches he had missed came during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he starred for Nigeria and helped them secure a record ninth bronze medal finish.
However, he has now been unavailable for Fulham’s last two Premier League matches after suffering an injury that forced him off in the first half of their goalless draw against Brentford last month.

During his absence, the Cottagers narrowly defeated Aston Villa 1-0 before suffering a disappointing 3-0 loss to Arsenal last weekend, which had dealt a major blow to their hopes of qualifying for Europe.
Marco Silva confirms Alex Iwobi’s absence for Bournemouth clash
Fulham host Bournemouth at Craven Cottage later today as they look to bounce back from last weekend’s heavy defeat to Arsenal. The Cottagers currently sit 11th in the Premier League table with 48 points, but remain just three points behind seventh-placed Brentford and are still in contention for European qualification.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Fulham head coach Marco Silva confirmed that Alex Iwobi will remain sidelined as he continues his recovery, meaning the Super Eagles midfielder is set to miss a third consecutive game through injury.

“Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, they are going to be out of the game”, Silva said, via the club’s official website.
“We had a difficult week with one or two. We have to keep assessing every single day.
“To lose Alex and Sess at this stage of the season is a big, big blow – for our left-hand side. It’s not a moment to complain or cry about it. We have other solutions”, the Fulham boss added.

With Iwobi unavailable for the clash, Fulham can still rely on the presence of fellow Nigerian stars Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze as they look to secure a positive result against Bournemouth.
However, they will be hoping to have Iwobi back before their final two matches of the season against Wolves and Newcastle United as they continue their push for a first European qualification since the 2011-12 campaign.
