Former Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has affirmed that Super Eagles striker Akor Adams is a vital player for Sevilla, though he noted the forward still has room to refine his game, Afrik-Foot reports.

After a difficult start to life at Sevilla that was marred by injuries, Adams has grown into a key figure for the club this season. He has featured in 21 La Liga matches, contributing six goals and three assists to the cause.

On Sunday, he played the full 90 minutes for Los Nervionenses as they traveled to the Estadio de la Cartuja to face Real Betis in El Gran Derbi.

Although the 26-year-old failed to find the back of the net or provide an assist, he put in a solid shift leading the line, tirelessly chasing down every ball and contributing to the team’s defensive efforts.

The match ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw, with Sevilla mounting a spirited comeback after falling two goals behind in the first half.

After the whistle, former Manchester United and Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez—who joined Sevilla last summer and played 20 minutes against Betis—spoke about Adams’ importance to the squad.

Following the clash between Betis and Sevilla, the Chilean international highlighted Adams’ physical presence as a major asset for the team. Nonetheless, he acknowledged his potential for further growth.

”I think he’s powerful; he has a lot to learn, but I think it’s going well. He is on a good path, and I think it is important for us to have a player who is that strong. He will help Sevilla a lot,” Sanchez told Sporty TV.

As it stands, Adams is enjoying his most productive campaign in a top five European league in terms of goal contributions.

His evolution at Sevilla is evident; he has grown from being an injury-plagued striker to a mainstay in coach Matias Almeyda’s starting lineup.

With 12 games remaining in the La Liga season, he will be hoping to finish the campaign on a high note with Los Nervionenses.
