Amidst swirling transfer rumors, Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers has thrown his weight behind the club's title aspirations, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver over 20 goals this season.

Dessers' debut season at Ibrox wasn't without its critics. Despite some early struggles, he ultimately delivered a respectable campaign, netting 22 goals and providing 9 assists across 54 appearances in all competitions.

Recent weeks have seen the former Feyenoord man linked with a move away from Rangers, with Greek side PAOK and Italian outfit Cagliari reportedly interested.

Unfazed by the speculation, Dessers remains bullish on his future with the Gers.

“Looking back, last season had a bumpy start,” Dessers admitted. “But now I'm coming in with the confidence of making 20-plus goals in a season. So, I'm starting from a different place compared to last year. All of these things, hopefully, they add up and make us a better team.”

Dessers' mixed preseason form

Under fire for recent performances, Dessers responded with a brace in Rangers' dramatic 4-4 draw against Union Berlin, and subsequently discussed the benefit of preseason, a luxury he hadn't enjoyed in years.

“It’s been a nice feeling to do a full preseason. Last year I came in with an injury and I could only train fully the week before the league started.

“The season before I played in the Conference League final, and then had the national team, so I came in late to preseason with Cremonese as well.

“It’s been really good to have a good build-up to the training. I feel fit and I’m all ready for next week’s opener, definitely.”
