La Liga side Valencia are preparing a late swoop for Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka, eager to bring the Brentford man to Mestalla on loan before the transfer window closes.
Onyeka has struggled for playing time under manager Thomas Frank since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Nigeria, where he earned a silver medal.
The FC Ebedei product, who shone under Jose Peseiro's guidance during the 2023 AFCON, has also attracted interest from several top European clubs.
Girona initially expressed interest in the Nigeria international, but Valencia have now emerged as serious contenders for his signature.
How close is Frank Onyeka to a Valencia transfer?
However, according to the BBC, the potential deal is not without complications.
The Bees prefer a permanent transfer, while Valencia are pushing for an initial loan move. Frank Onyeka, who is also known as “Frank The Tank”, is reportedly keen on a switch to La Liga, but the two clubs will need to find a compromise to finalize the transfer before the deadline.
If the move materializes, Onyeka would join fellow Super Eagles stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke, who currently ply their trade in La Liga with Sevilla FC. The former FC Midtjylland midfielder has already featured in two Premier League matches for Brentford this season.
The 26-year-old has also been named in Bruno Labbadia's 23-man squad for Nigeria's upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. The midfielder will be looking to continue his impressive form as the Super Eagles aim for success in the upcoming fixtures.
