Nigeria-eligible forward Rio Ngumoha could be handed the biggest night of his young career as Liverpool welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Anfield on Tuesday for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, trailing 2-0 on aggregate, Afrik Foot reports.
Arne Slot has confirmed he would have no hesitation in starting the 17-year-old, who was the outstanding performer in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fulham.

Ngumoha scored a stunning first Anfield goal against the Cottagers, cutting inside Timothy Castagne before curling into the far corner to become the youngest player ever to score a league goal at the ground.

The forward of Igbo Nigerian descent has now featured in six consecutive matches for the Reds and is pushing hard for a place from the start against the defending European champions.
Slot hinted at a press conference on Monday that Ngumoha’s personality and fearlessness make him ready for this stage.
The teenager himself has spoken about wanting to win the World Cup and the Ballon d’Or, ambitions that have excited Nigerian football fans given that he remains eligible to represent the Super Eagles at senior level under FIFA regulations.
Liverpool will need every ounce of Ngumoha’s directness and energy if they are to overturn the two-goal deficit.
The Reds failed to register a single shot on target in the first leg at the Parc des Princes, where goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia punished Slot’s conservative 3-5-2 formation.

The decision to bench Mohamed Salah for the entire match drew fierce criticism.
The mood shifted on Saturday, though. Ngumoha and Salah both found the net against Fulham as Liverpool ended a three-game losing run, and the Reds have now won four of their last five home matches, scoring 15 goals in that run. Memories of the legendary 4-0 comeback against Barcelona on this same ground in 2019 will fuel belief that another Anfield miracle is not impossible.
PSG, however, represents a very different challenge. Luis Enrique’s side arrives on a five-match winning streak and have kept clean sheets in each of their last four away games. The French champions also won 1-0 at Anfield in the second leg of last season’s round of 16 before progressing on penalties, so this ground holds no fear for them.
Curtis Jones is a doubt after picking up a groin injury against Fulham, although he trained on Monday. The big tactical question is whether Slot will pair Ngumoha and Salah together in a more attacking set-up, potentially giving PSG’s defense two very different problems to deal with on either flank.

With Salah’s Liverpool future uncertain and Ngumoha’s star rising by the week, this promises to be an emotional and dramatic evening at Anfield. A place in the semi-finals against Real Madrid or Bayern Munich is at stake.
