Osimhen: Euros winner explains why Super Eagles striker is tailor-made for the Premier League

Former Southampton and Crystal Palace centre-back José Fonte is confident that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen possesses the qualities needed to excel in England’s top flight.

The 26-year-old joined the Turkish giants on loan after failing to secure a permanent move away from Napoli on deadline day. He has since emerged as a revelation in the Turkish top flight since his arrival in September.

Despite being strongly linked with several Premier League clubs before his move to Galatasaray, many expected the towering forward to secure a switch to England during the winter transfer window. However, as the deadline passed on Monday, a move failed to materialise.

The Portugal international highlighted the Nigerian’s strength, speed, and work ethic, insisting that Osimhen has all the attributes to dominate defenders and prove he belongs at the highest level.

Speaking in a recent interview with Boyle Sports as reported by Metro, the experienced centre-back described the Nigerian striker as aggressive, fast, clever, and powerful—qualities that make him a nightmare for defenders and a perfect fit for English football.

“Once Osimhen gets into the Premier League I think he will bully defenders, he is aggressive, fast, clever and powerful. He’s a player that has been a hardworking kid, who came from nothing, as a grafter, and all the success that he’s having, he deserves it.

“I can't wait to see him in the Premier League because he's one of those guys that you want to see against the very best. You want to see him in the Premier League week in and week out, and we will see that this is where he belongs.”

Osimhen has scored 17 goals and registered five assists for the Turkish giants so far this season.
