In the latest Victor Osimhen transfer news, the Nigeria international and Napoli forward has been linked with a move away from Naples in the summer.
Paris is the expected destination after Kylian Mbappe informed PSG of his intention to leave this summer.
French International Mbappe will have his contract expire in June 2024 and since he opted not to renew, he is set to leave the Parc des Princes as a free agent at the end of this season, a decision that didn't go down well with the PSG hierarchy.
Osimhen, 24, who just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast, where he helped his Nigerian side to a second-place finish, has been mentioned as the leading candidate to replace the 2018 World Cup winner with France, with the club weighing up a transfer approach.
Osimhen transfer news could make a return to Ligue 1
The Nigerian international joined Napoli from Lille SC in France in 2020, where he scored 18 goals in his only campaign at Lille before joining the Italian outfit in a club-record fee of €70 million that rose potentially to €80m with add-ons.
For Napoli, he has featured 119 times so far and has scored 67 goals, with his biggest feat with the Naples side coming last season, where his numbers helped propel the club to its first Serie A title in 33 years, netting 26 times in 32 league appearances.
The Osimhen transfer news has been fueled by his relationship with the facilitator of his transfer to Ligue, 1 Luis Campos, from his Belgian outfit, where he was on loan in 2020. Campos is currently at Paris Saint-Germain as a football advisor.
Osimhen began his career at German club Wolfsburg, before spending the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Charleroi and joining Lille on a permanent deal the following season.
The Osimhen transfer news is not the first between PSG and Napoli, as the club's president Aurelio de Laurentiis has previously sanctioned the transfer exits of strikers Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi to PSG, while midfielder Fabian Ruiz moved to the French capital club from Napoli in 2022.
Osimhen transfer news to shake up the PSG squad?
According to earlier reports from Football Italia, Paris Saint-Germain are looking to make a substantial offer for Osimhen and will table a €120m bid (equivalent to approximately ₦194 billion in Nigerian currency) for the Super Eagles striker as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
That amount will activate his release clause from Napoli which is believed to be around €120m to €130m.
The French outfit currently boasts of players in attacking positions.
Only last summer, strikers Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani were signed, while forwards Ousmane Dembele and Marco Asensio were also acquired, with Bradley Barcola joining from Lyon.
Osimhen's addition might be key in the French outfit's chase to winning a first European trophy and with his physical quality and prowess upfront, his addition might just make that happen for the Parisians.
It must be said, though, that he's big shoes to fill if he's a direct replacement for Mbappe, as the Frenchman has scored 242 goals in 289 PSG appearances.
Osimhen transfer news: Future already decided?
A few weeks ago, when talks around his future and transfer links popped up, the Super Eagles forward provided some insight into his plans and confidently revealed that he had already made a definitive decision regarding his next steps.
His assurance and clarity on the matter shed light on the deliberation and foresight he has put into shaping his future in the world of football in a chat with CBS Sports.
“I have already made my decision on the next step to do at the end of the season,” he said.
“I already made up my mind. I already have my plan, I know what I want to do, the next step I want to take.”
Previous Osimhen transfer news suggested a move to Chelsea was all but confirmed, where he would emulate his idol Didier Drogba.
With the latest Osimhen transfer news, PSG, who were not in the picture when he made the comments a few weeks ago, are now primed favourites to land the Nigeria striker's signature.
