Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle was spotted conducting an interview like a seasoned journalist, turning the mic on new invitee Tijani Al Ameen during the team’s training session on Friday, Afrik-Foot reports.

Nigeria defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in their opening game of the 2026 Unity Cup on Tuesday, setting up a highly anticipated clash with Jamaica in Saturday’s final.

Ahead of the crucial match, the Super Eagles have been putting in the work on the training pitch to sharpen their cohesion, game plan, and tactics.

On Friday night, Chelle held his final training session with the squad. As previously announced by the team’s media department, the session was open to the press for player and coach interviews.

However, in a brilliant twist, Chelle decided to swap roles. Instead of fielding questions, the tactician became the interviewer.

The subject of Chelle’s impromptu interview was Shooting Stars defender Tijani Al Ameen. The late call-up to the squad could not hide his elation and gratitude for the opportunity.

Al Ameen stated he was ready to give everything—even his life—for the national team colors.

“When I got the call-up, I was so happy. It came late, but I grabbed it with both hands,” Al Ameen said. “I’m willing to die for this jersey. From the day I started playing football, I’ve always wanted to play for the national team.”

While it remains unlikely that the Shooting Stars standout will start in the Unity Cup final, he is clearly relishing his time with the squad in London. If the game goes well, he might just get his chance to make an impact off the bench.
