Super Eagles star eyes January exit following summer transfer drama

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is reportedly seeking a move away from the club during the January transfer window, following a summer filled with transfer speculation.

The Super Eagles star, who played a pivotal role in Atalanta's Europa League triumph last season with a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, was previously linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

Over the summer, Lookman expressed a desire to leave, even asking to be omitted from Atalanta's Serie A matches after their UEFA Super Cup appearance. Clubs, including PSG, had reportedly shown interest, but Atalanta stood firm, refusing to sell with little time to find a replacement.

Lookman eyes January exit amid renewed transfer interest

According to Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenburg, Lookman could make another attempt to secure a transfer in January. Despite the transfer saga which happened earlier, Lookman has continued to perform on the pitch.

This season, he has already scored two goals and provided two assists in four Serie A appearances for Atalanta, demonstrating why his stock remains high.

Lookman, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022 for €9.3 million, has scored 35 goals in 85 appearances for the club. With a minimum price tag of €30 million set by the Italian club, Lookman could be a key figure in January's transfer market if an offer from a top club meets Atalanta’s valuation.

His potential departure will undoubtedly be one of the key stories of the upcoming transfer window as several top clubs remain interested in his services.
