Patrick Mayo’s advice to his son Khanyisa Mayo may already be coming true so soon into his Kaizer Chiefs career following what was witnessed against AmaZulu on Wednesday.
Mayo’s attempt to play and eventually kick the ball into the net when it was already sailing over the line denied Chiefs a second and perhaps what would have been a match-winning goal after Pule Mmodi had done everything to get the ball past goalkeeper Darren Johnson.
That has seen the player highly criticised as some fans claimed he was looking for individual glory, putting the striker into a spot of bother with the spotlight firmly on him.
What was Mayo told about Chiefs?

These are things Mayo was reportedly warmed by his father, a former Chiefs player, who turned out for the Glamour Boys between 2003 and 2007.
“I warned Mayo to be careful of Chiefs and their supporters’ pressure,” Patrick Mayo said over his advice to his son upon joining Chiefs as per iDiski Times.
“I was very excited when he told me Chiefs were calling. But I also told him: this is where pressure doubles.
Khanyisa advised to maintain high standards

“At Chiefs, you can never relax. Every training session, every match, you must prove yourself. That’s why he needs to remain grounded. I told him he needs to be humble and work very hard, because pressure at Chiefs is always there.”
Mayo started his Chiefs career in brilliant fashion as he scored in their 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants and after one week of celebration, he found out the other side of the Amakhosi supporters when he was involved in a confusing moment that denied the Soweto giants a potential win.
Chiefs will be hoping that he quickly overcomes the disappointment and fire them to victory as they face Stellenbosch FC in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 on Sunday.
