Kaizer Chiefs Transfers: Who is Amakhosi signing in January? Motaung responds

With rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns reinforcing their squads, Kaizer Chiefs do not intend to make signings in the January transfer window.

Chiefs had an improved first half of the season compared to 2024 when they ended 2025 in fourth spot with 24 points from 13 games, four behind leaders Orlando Pirates, who have a match in hand.

However, it could have been more had they not dropped points easily to mid and lower table teams and to some fans, the squad still needs more quality.

However, Bobby Motaung says the club will not be active in the January transfer market and will only sign if a great opportunity that they cannot turn down presents itself.

“We will not turn down an opportunity if a special player comes along. If that happens, we will look at the situation,” Motaung said as per IOL.

Motaung then went into details over why he thinks it would not make sense to sign players this month.

“We are satisfied with the squad we have because we have had players injured, but they are coming back,” he added. “We signed many players at the beginning of the season and some of them are yet to play.”

“It’s not easy to join Chiefs, which is why some players take time to settle in. They have to get used to the team so that everything goes smoothly. We don’t want to change the squad,” he added.

Chiefs made many off-season signings

Chiefs brought in 11 players in the off-season being; Flavio Silva, Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Asanele Velebayi, Etiosa Ighodaro, Luke Baartman, Lebohang Maboe and Khanyisa Mayo.

Of the 11, Baartman only made his debut in their final match of the year while Chislett and Shinga are yet to feature competitively for the Glamour Boys.

Motaung’s revelation will likely not be received well by Chiefs fans who have been calling for more signings in key areas for a better second half of the season.
