PSL all-time leading scorers: Grobler leaves Shalulile looking over his shoulders

Sekhukhune United striker Bradley Grobler could end the season as the PSL all-time top scorer following his brilliant run of form so far.

Grobler did a demolition job on Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, when his two goals and assist ended the Glamour Boys’ unbeaten start to the season, while also halting their run without conceding, following a 3-1 victory for Babina Noko.

The evergreen striker saw his tally move to six goals in nine games this season and after his brace against Chiefs, he has now moved to 123 goals on the all-time top scorers list.

Grobler third on the PSL all-time top scorers list?

Grobler is third on the exclusive list which is led by Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile, who moved ahead on 130 goals at the end of August, after overtaking Kaizer Chiefs legend Siyabonga Nomvethe.

Nomvethe had been the leading scorer on 129 before Shalulile moved level and then overtook him and the two now have to look over their shoulders.

Grobler has been in impressive form since joining Sekhukhune after 12 years at the now defunct SuperSport United and even at 37, he is still putting in man of the match performances.

What is working in favour of Sekhukhune striker?

The striker, son of Moroka Swallows legend Les Grobler, who was renowned for his powerful freekicks and long-range strikes, has every chance to go level, and even move ahead, as he is seven goals away from Shalulile’s record.

What is working in his favour is that Nomvethe is already retired while Shalulile is not a regular starter at Mamelodi Sundowns while he is the go-to man for coach Erick Tinkler at Sekhukhune.

If he continues in this form, Grobler will likely finish the season as the PSL all-time leading scorer which would be a remarkable achievement for the highly-underrated striker.
