Chukwueze: Two key reasons behind Trabzonspor’s interest in Super Eagles forward

Published on by

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze could be set for a move to Turkish Cup winners Trabzonspor this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Nigerian international faces an uncertain future after returning to AC Milan following a season-long loan spell at Premier League club Fulham.

Chukwueze joined Fulham last summer after falling out of favour at Milan, where regular playing opportunities became difficult to come by. Although the 27-year-old showed flashes of his quality during his time in England, the Cottagers ultimately decided against making the move permanent.

As a result, he has returned to Italy, where his long-term future remains unresolved and questions remain over whether he would be at the club beyond this summer.

Reports from Foot-Africa reveal that Trabzonspor have identified the Nigerian as one of their priority targets and have already submitted an offer worth around €15 million.

The Turkish side are looking to strengthen significantly ahead of next season as they aim to build on last year’s success and their interest in Chukwueze is understandable given what he would bring to the squad.

A very affordable and quality option in attack

While AC Milan are yet to respond to Trabzonspor’s €15 million offer, negotiations should not prove difficult between both clubs especially with the Serie A club willing to part ways with the Super Eagles forward.

For a player of his experience and ability, that fee represents good value in today’s transfer market. Chukwueze produced several impressive performances during his loan spell at Fulham, reminding many of the qualities that made him one of Europe’s most exciting wide players during his time at Villarreal.

His pace, direct dribbling and ability to create chances from wide areas would suit Trabzonspor’s fast-paced attacking style.

The 27-year-old would also provide an upgrade on the club’s current options in the final third, giving them greater quality and depth as they compete for domestic honours and European success next season.

Chukwueze’s European pedigree

Trabzonspor are preparing for a return to the Europa League after winning the Turkish Cup and finishing third in the Super Lig last season. With European football back on the agenda, the club are eager to recruit players capable of competing at that level, making Chukwueze an ideal fit.

The Super Eagles star has built up considerable experience in European competitions throughout his career and understands the demands of playing on the continental stage.

The 27-year-old has featured in more than 50 matches across UEFA’s three major club competitions and has registered over 15 goal contributions during those appearances. That level of experience could prove very important for Trabzonspor as they prepare for what could be a demanding campaign both domestically and in Europe.

The Turkish club also have several Nigerian players in their squad who have made a positive impact, which would make Chukwueze’s adaptation easier if the move goes through.

The Super Eagles forward is also open to a move to Turkey, as it represents an opportunity to make a fresh start after an inconsistent spell at AC Milan and could help him rediscover his best form.
