Granada Femenino striker, Edna Imade, has been crowned the December Player of the Month in Spain's Liga F.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward scored three goals and provided a crucial assist in December, helping Granada maintain their strong position in the league.
Born in Morocco to Nigerian parents, Imade has enjoyed a breakout season in Spain’s top division. Her nine league goals place her second in the scoring charts, just one behind Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor, who has scored ten times.
Notably, Imade has scored in five consecutive matches, with her goals coming against Badalona, Levante, Deportivo La Coruña, Madrid CFF, and Sevilla.
A season of breakthroughs
While Barcelona continue to dominate the league, Granada’s rise has been one of the season’s most compelling stories, with Imade at the heart of their success. Her ability to deliver in key moments has set her apart as one of the league’s top performers.
This was Imade’s second consecutive nomination for the Player of the Month award, having narrowly missed out in November.
In December, she beat off competition from high-profile players such as Barcelona’s Esmee Brugts, Real Madrid’s Signe Bruun, and Espanyol’s Cristina Salvador.
A Super Falcons call-up on the horizon?
Despite her exploits in Spain, Imade remains uncapped by the Super Falcons. She was overlooked for the team’s friendly against France in 2024 but is widely expected to earn a call-up in 2025.
With the Super Falcons constantly searching for attacking options, her form could make her an invaluable addition to the squad.
Imade will return to action on January 12, 2025, when Granada face a tough away match against second-placed Real Madrid. All eyes will be on the Nigerian star as she continues her meteoric rise.
