Top 3 favourites to sign Victor Osimhen this summer

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen could still be on his way out of Turkish champions Galatasaray this summer as interest in his services continues to grow, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Nigerian international has been one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe after another impressive campaign in Turkey, with most of Europe’s elite clubs much interested in him.

Osimhen scored 22 goals across all competitions last season, taking his overall tally to 59 goals in just two seasons with Galatasaray. During that period, he has helped the club win two Turkish Super Lig titles and one Turkish Cup.

Despite Galatasaray showing little desire to sell the 27-year-old, interest from several clubs has not slowed down, with more teams continuing to enter the race for his signature.

Barcelona have already withdrawn from the race, while Juventus are also unable to pursue a deal because of a clause inserted by Napoli, effectively ruling the Serie A giants out of contention.

With the summer transfer window remaining open until August 31 in most leagues and September 1 in others, a move is still very much possible. Afrik-Foot looks at the three clubs currently leading the race to sign the Super Eagles forward.

1. Tottenham Hotspur

Premjer League side Tottenham Hotspur are currently the strongest contenders to sign Osimhen after recently stepping up their interest.

According to reports, the 2025 Europa League winners are preparing an official bid for Galatasaray as they look to beat other interested clubs to the Nigerian striker’s signature.

Meeting Galatasaray’s asking price and Osimhen’s wage demands is not expected to be a problem for Spurs, who are planning a major rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi ahead of the new season.

After finishing 17th in the Premier League in each of the last two campaigns, Tottenham are desperate to improve and Osimhen is seen as a significant upgrade on their current striking options.

2. Atletico Madrid

Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid are also among the favourites to sign Victor Osimhen, although their pursuit depends largely on the future of Julián Álvarez.

Barcelona have made Álvarez their top attacking target after ending their interest in Osimhen and are expected to push hard for the Argentine forward.

If Álvarez leaves the Spanish capital, Atletico are expected to make Osimhen their priority replacement.

Diego Simeone is believed to admire the Nigerian’s qualities, particularly his physicality, aggression and work rate, which are qualities that would suit Atletico’s style of play.

3. Arsenal

Premier League champions Arsenal have admired Victor Osimhen for a long time, and this summer could present the ideal opportunity to make their move.

Mikel Arteta strengthened his squad last summer by signing Viktor Gyökeres, but the Swedish striker failed to consistently meet expectations and endured an inconsistent campaign.

As a result, Arsenal are now looking to strengthen further. The Gunners are reportedly considering offering Gyökeres plus cash in a deal for Osimhen, although they also have the financial capacity to meet Galatasaray’s valuation.

Osimhen would represent a major upgrade in attack and could provide the extra quality Arsenal need to win the Premier League again and successfully defend their title.

Any club hoping to sign the Nigerian international will have to meet Galatasaray’s valuation, despite the Turkish champions’ reluctance to sell him this summer.

For now, Osimhen is expected to continue at Galatasaray, but with several top clubs still monitoring his situation, the possibility of a transfer before the window closes cannot be ruled out.
